The Blog

I have two words for Nolan & Morgan’s day – Joyfilled and Heartfelt! To say that Nolan & Morgan poured their heart into their big day is an understatement. I knew they were going to DIY alot of their wedding, but I didn’t fully understand it until I saw it with my own eyes. The ceremony took place on a family property, creating an intimate feel that only a backyard wedding can offer. Morgan’s dad made the benches for the ceremony, Her maid of honour, Holly, added special details to the guys’ ties, making each one unique, and get this…. *Morgan made her own wedding dress and all her bridesmaids’ dresses* – a true labor of love and a STUNNING group of girls.
When friends arrived at the Steelhead Hall reception, some were in for a sweet surprise – Nolan and Morgan had already tied the knot a few weeks ago! This added a fun twist to their Abbotsford wedding celebration.
The personal touches at this Abbotsford/Mission wedding did not end at the ceremony. At the Steelhead Hall reception, guests were greeted with even more personal touches:
These handmade elements created a wedding that was uniquely “them” – showing how much thought went into their special day in Abbotsford.
The reception at Steelhead Hall was filled with energy! Nolan, Morgan, and their guests danced so hard – creating memories that will last forever. The rustic charm of the hall provided the perfect backdrop for their celebration after the intimate backyard ceremony.
Here’s a look at their incredible day!

Like Morgan’s handmade dresses and the crocheted frogs, include elements that tell your story. Personal details make your wedding photos more meaningful.
Backyard ceremonies in Abbotsford need a backup plan. Consider renting tents or having an indoor option ready just in case.
Plan the timing between your backyard ceremony and Steelhead Hall reception. Make sure guests have clear directions and enough time to travel between locations.
Find someone who can capture the intimate feel of a backyard wedding and the grand moments at Steelhead Hall – both settings need different photography skills.
From comfortable seating at the backyard ceremony to fun activities at Steelhead Hall, think about how to keep everyone happy and engaged throughout your day.
Allow at least 1-2 hours between events. This gives you time for family photos at the ceremony site and lets guests travel to Steelhead Hall without rushing. You’ll need less time if you do a first look, but more time if you do your bridal party photos after your ceremony.
Yes! A mix of backyard ceremony photos and Steelhead Hall reception images will tell the complete story of your day. The contrast between the intimate backyard setting and the rustic hall makes for a wonderful photo collection.
Always have a backup plan for outdoor ceremonies in Abbotsford. This might be a tent, covered porch, or even moving the ceremony to Steelhead Hall earlier in the day.
Carry design elements from your ceremony to the reception. Use similar flowers, colors, or decorations to create a sense of continuity between both locations.
If you’re dreaming of a personal backyard wedding ceremony followed by a fun celebration at Steelhead Hall in Mission, I’d love to capture your special day! Your wedding photos will tell the story of both beautiful locations and all the heartfelt moments in between.
